There is a great thread over at GardenWeb about induction versus gas cooktops. This is a great thread, when you look beyond the posters sniping at each other, because there are actual induction users chiming in and giving their opinions.

If you do not know much about induction cooking, or if you are considering making a switch to induction, check out The Induction Site. They have a lot of information about the technology, the brands, and a lot of other information.

The great thing is as more and more brands enter the induction cooking market, prices will come down slightly over the next few years. (I say "slightly" because you shouldn't expect induction cooktops to ever get as cheap as regular electric. So don't waste your time holding out for them to hit that $499 price point.)
